Prof. Pott has been working regularly as a lecturer at the faculty since 2011. Students particularly praise the practical focus of his courses. As managing director of BauZert e.V., Verband Beton- und Fertigteilindustrie Nord e.V. (Northern Concrete and Precast Industry Association), Fachvereinigung Betonbauteile mit Gitterträgern e. V. (Professional Association for Concrete Components with Lattice Girders) and Bund Güteschutz Beton- und Stahlbetonfertigteile e.V. (Quality Assurance Association for Concrete and Reinforced Concrete Precast Elements), Prof. Pott brings up-to-date knowledge of regulations and production, testing and certification processes to his teaching. His extensive network within the industry helps in organising guest lectures and field trips, thereby enabling students to gain direct insight into real-world practice and to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
After studying civil engineering at Ruhr University Bochum, Jens Pott worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Building Materials at Leibniz University Hannover, where he completed his PhD in late 2006 on development strategies for cement-bound foams. Alongside his professional career, Prof. Pott remains active in research, serves as a reviewer for a specialist journal and supports research programmes, for example as a member of an advisory board.
The honorary professorship was awarded by the Executive Board of Leibniz University Hannover on the recommendation of the faculty and with the approval of the Senate. Honorary professors must have a proven academic track record and be capable of contributing to the fulfilment of the university’s objectives. They must have taught at universities for at least 10 semesters and must not be members of Leibniz University Hannover.
