The colloquium was organised to mark the 20th anniversary of the Institute of Structural Analysis (ISD) and more than ten years of operation of the Test Centre Support Structures (TTH). The event brought together more than 100 participants from all over the world. The programme presented cutting-edge research in the field of multifunctional, lightweight and durable structures, with a particular focus on wind energy and aerospace applications. Eight renowned scientists from the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Ireland and Germany presented their latest research findings on various aspects of the colloquium's thematic focus areas. The event also included a visit to the TTH, including the new Large Wave Flow Channel (GWK+), which showcased state-of-the-art testing facilities and offered unique insights into experimental methods for offshore and wind energy structures. The colloquium provided a valuable platform for the exchange of ideas and the development of synergies between researchers with the aim of defining common perspectives for the coming years. At the same time, it served as an important forum for highlighting Leibniz University Hannover's research focus on energy. The event was accompanied by a special edition of the International Journal of Composite Structures (Elsevier, Impact Factor 7.1) entitled ‘Honoring Prof. Raimund Rolfes' 65th Birthday’ and a special volume of the book series Research Topics in Wind Energy (Springer, European Academy of Wind Energy) entitled ‘Offshore Megastructures’.
